'Directed the police to maintain a tight vigil to prevent road accidents'

DIBRUGARH, Dec 24: Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has announced Rs 300 crore residential project for Assam Medical College and Hospital (AMCH) here in Dibrugarh on Tuesday.
The announcement was made after cm Sarma visited the Assam Medical College and Hospital (AMCH).

During the visit, Sarma said also took note of the construction of a residential colony at the medical college.
"The chief minister stated that the colony, which is estimated to cost Rs 300 crore, will provide accommodation for the hospital staff, thereby enhancing the overall infrastructure and facilities at the AMCH," an official statement said.
During his visit to the AMCH, Sarma held a review meeting with the medical college authorities to assess the existing facilities and infrastructure.
Furthermore, he addressed about the issue of urban flooding and water logging in Dibrugarh town during a meeting with officials of the Dibrugarh Municipal Corporation. The discussions focused on finding sustainable solutions to mitigate the impact of flooding in the town.
"He also stressed on the importance of road safety and directed the police to maintain a tight vigil until January 15 to prevent road accidents during the New Year celebrations. He specifically highlighted the need to crack down on drink driving and rash driving to ensure the safety of commuters," the statement concluded.
The meeting was attended by top officials including director general of police GP Singh, special DGP Harmeet Singh, commissioners of 9 upper Assam districts.
